Small Island Developing States are currently at the heart of the international attention, with the 20-year review of the implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of SIDS, as well as the celebration of the International Year for SIDS 2014. This process is about sustainable development, characterized by the need for advanced intersectoral, intergenerational and inter-regional action, rooted in international and inter-agency cooperation.
For several decades, UNESCO has implemented projects specifically focused on small islands, mainly on coping with change and promoting sustaining diversities in small islands.
On this map, you will find a selection of UNESCO's actions in SIDS. This selection is not exhaustive, and the map is a work in progress.| Title | Location | Date |
